Bizlink: An easier way of buying and selling businesses.

North Simcoe CFDC is part of group of CFDCs in central Ontario doing its part to assist rural entrepreneurs in matching buyers and sellers through a Business Transition Matching Program (BTMP).

Since 2018, the program has helped 24 businesses successfully transition, with another 10 buyers and sellers in active conversations. CFDCs have helped keep these businesses in our rural communities open, maintaining 75 jobs so far.

With four CFDCs working in collaboration, this is a new and exciting opportunity to support economic growth and sustainability throughout a broader area.

The BTMP includes a regionally shared database of buyers and sellers and subsidized access to the independent on-line portal, Succession Matching.com. Here users can create an individual buyer or seller profile, access to a national database of buyers and sellers and a variety of online learning tools and connections with international investors through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program. One important concern buyers and sellers often have is whether they should publicly announce their intention. Public listings can impact employee loyalty, supplier arrangements and customer expectations. One of the greatest features of this program, in the eyes of both buyers and sellers, is that they can choose a level of anonymity for the program that they are comfortable with.

Additional services the BTMP offers:

  • Referrals to local professional resources, such as business valuators, tax planners, accountants, lawyers, and real estate agents
  • Contact with Immigration Specialists to promote businesses to international buyers
  • Access to financing and business coaching
  • Workshops on related topics such as Bookkeeping and Business Valuation.
